Thanks guys for the sessions. - Brian

Portrait of a Couple

I now seem to be the only one posting...but that's ok. During today's Art 4 Lunch I continued shooting people in the studio. Understanding portraits and portrait lighting is not going to be something that I can do quickly. The portraits that I've most enjoyed have been those that include the subject and the location (or from a unique perspective like above).

I'm keeping all the co-worker portraits here if you are interested in seeing those not done on a Friday... - Brian

Elena the "Witch"

Halloween at PSI, so this Art Lunch I'm posting one of the few shots I was able to get. Lot's of great costumes though, and loads of fun see everyone dressed up.

Elena, dressed as a witch, is a 2D designer at Pipeline. Thanks for taking the time to model for me. - Brian

Jody and Jen

I was lucky enough today, to have 2 models on my solo Art Lunch...I was solo because I actually didn't do it at lunch, well before in fact and went off to Stoney's for my actual lunch.

Jody, is almost ready to be a mother for the second time. She is a lip sync artist at PSI. She was shot using only natural light.

Jen is a 2D animator at PSI for the next few days. She has accepted a full time position in California, and leaves next week. Jen was shot with a single speed light diffused through an umbrella.

Thanks, ladies. You both did a wonderful job! - Brian

Thanks again!

watercolour farm sketch

This is a watercolour study from this week's trip. We spent about 40 minutes around the farm lands just north of the Sheridan campus in Oakville. The leaves are just starting to turn, so the next few weeks should be a great time to paint.

Forgotten Fields

North of the school the farmers allow their fields to rest unkempt. I know nothing of farming, but I'm sure somewhere someone (or something) could make of meal of these forgotten crops. - Brian

Sketches!

A sketch from a few weeks ago. In the graveyard, while those two other idiots tried to break into the abandoned hospital. I also included a shot of my setup. Those are dry watercolor pans, with white gouache, clipped to a moleskine watercolor book. Fits into a small hiking pouch! Very handy, and fun.

Lost Dog

A quiet Art Lunch this week...back into Oakville, down to the waterfront. The park was empty with the exception of this gentleman and his overly hyper, soaking wet dog. - Brian

Blue Sky Green Rock

Back down to the waterfront this week. Nice clear skies and calm waters. I loved this mossy rock from the second I saw it. - Brian

Avian Commentary on Organized Religion

Away last week on vacation I did my Art Lunch photo in Prague. Though I have other photos that I actually like better, I just really like the title and subject matter of this image. - Brian

WHIRLPOOL

Festival of Friends in Hamilton a few weekends ago - didn't have a tripod so I got creative and used the headlight of a truck, which was parked right next to the tiltawhirl.....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee looks like a UFO and a bansaw lightshow

I volunteered as a Dish Ninja at the Hillside music festival in Guelph at the end of July. Aside from being a great festival for new music, it's the biggest hippie fest anywhere in Canada - everything that can be washed, reused, and recycled at the festival is....I washed close to 1200-1300 plates on Saturday night (1 plate very 10 seconds for 4 hours)...x10 dishwashing volunteers working at the time...it was nuts...but, we had a great soundtrack as the festival's main stage was directly adjacent to our dish ninja pit!
